GREEN & MAROON SUPREMACY: Mohun Bagan SG crush Mohammedan SC 4-0 in the Kolkata Derby!
Kolkata, February 1: With a commanding footballing display, Mohun Bagan SG won the Kolkata Derby against Mohammedan Sporting Club with a 4-0 victory at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan tonight In the ongoing ISL. The first half saw the Black and White Army dominate possession but go into the break trailing by three goals. In the second half, ten-man Mohammedan SC seemed devastated as Mohun Bagan continued their dominance. Braces from Subhasish Bose and Manvir Singh secured all three points for the Mariners in the Kolkata Derby.
The first ten minutes of the match saw a slow footballing display by both Kolkata giants. In the 12th minute, Subhasish opened the scoring for Mohun Bagan. Inside the box, he received a pass from Maclaren and calmly slotted the ball into the net amidst the crowd.

In the 20th minute, Manvir doubled the lead. From a corner, Cummings delivered the ball into the box, which Padam Chhetri failed to grip, allowing Manvir to capitalize on the defensive lapse.

In the 43rd minute, captain Subhasish completed his brace, making it 3-0 for the Mariners. In the 42+2nd minute, Manvir Saini attempted a header on target from Kasimov’s corner, but Vishal made a crucial save to deny Mohammedan a goal. In the dying moments of the first half, at 45+3rd minute, Mohammedan SC was reduced to ten men as Kasimov committed a rough challenge on Tom Aldred, resulting in a direct red card.

Just after the second-half kickoff, Mohammedan had a promising goal-scoring opportunity. In the 46th minute, on the edge of the right side of the box, Tom Aldred committed an illegal challenge on Remsanga, awarding Mohammedan a free kick. Alexis took the set piece, but his shot closely sailed over the crossbar.
In the 53rd minute, from Cummins’ inch-perfect cross from the left, Manvir attempted an on-target header, sealing the score at 4-0 for the Mariners in the Kolkata Derby. In the 81st minute, Mohammedan SC’s new signing, Mark Andre, made his debut, but the forward failed to make an impact on the derby. A minute later, substitute Dimitri Petratos took a shot that hit the post. For the rest of the match, Mohun Bagan SG played commanding football, tested the keeper numerous times, but the derby ended 4-0.

Jason Cummings was the standout player in tonight’s Kolkata Derby, earning the Player of the Match honor for his brilliant performance. He registered two assists and created six chances, playing a pivotal role in every attacking move for the Mariners. Cummings also showcased his defensive work with an interception and a tackle, while completing 11 out of 19 passes attempted.
