Mohun Bagan SG Thrash BSF FT 4-0 in Durand Cup 2025, Liston Scores Brace

Kolkata, August 4: Mohun Bagan SG secured a dominant 4-0 victory over BSF FT in the ongoing 134th edition of the Durand Cup on Monday evening at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan.

Mohun Bagan SG started the first half with high pressing football. However within just 3 minutes, Abhisekh Suryabansi’s misplaced pass allowed Kishori to capitalized on the ball, skipping past Tom. However, his final attempt from inside the box went off target, missing an early breakthrough opportunity for BSF FT.

The Mariners continued pressing high, and in the 12th minute, Thapa initiated a promising move on the left flank. After exchanging a quick one-two with Liston, Thapa went for a grounded shor from a decent position, but his shot was off the mark, another chance gone begging.

Their persistence paid off in the 24th minute. Liston found Roshan on the left, who delivered a perfect cross into the box. Manvir Singh rose to attempt heading it past the keeper to break the deadlock and put Mohun Bagan SG 1-0 up.

The goal added rhythm to Bagan’s attack, while BSF FT struggled to gain control in midfield. Bagan’s dominance in possession and sharp movement in the final third clearly reflected their intent to build on their lead. Mohun Bagan SG created several chances, while on the other side, BSF had two promising opportunities inside the box but failed to convert before the break.

Mohun Bagan SG came out firing in the second half, showing no signs of slowing down. In the 53rd minute, Liston Colaco regained possession from Sahal, created space centrally inside the box, and calmly placed the ball into the net to double the lead, 2-0 to the Mariners.

Just five minutes later, Liston found the net again. Capitalizing on the momentum, he netted his second of the night in the 58th minute, completing brace and extending Mohun Bagan SG’s lead to 3-0.

The scoring continued to open as Sahal, in the 61st minute, broke through on the left side of the box and attempted a shot. Though Ishal Gupta tried to clear the ball with a header, it had already crossed the goal line, the referee awarded the goal, and Mohun Bagan SG went 4-0 up.

In the dying moment, at 90+4th minute, Alberto unleashed a powerful long range shot. However, the BSF FT keeper Harpreet Singh made an outstanding save to deny a fifth goal, bringing the match to an end.

A dominant second-half performance ensured a 4-0 win for Mohun Bagan SG, with Liston’s brace being the highlight of the evening, in their second fixtures of the ongoing Durand Cup.

With the same 6 points but a lower goal difference compared to DHFC, Mohun Bagan SG now stands second in the Group B points table, while BSF FT remains fourth, yet to open their account. On 7th August, BSF FT will play their final fixture against Mohammedan SC, while on 9th August, Mohun Bagan SG will face DHFC in their next match.
