Last-Minute Sadiku Header Denies Mohammedan SC First ISL Win as FC Goa Salvage a 1-1 Draw

Today, at Kishore Bharati Stadium, Mohammedan SC and FC Goa shared the points. Both teams played their second match today. Mohammedan took the lead in the second half after several attempts, but in the final moments, a header from Sadiku saved FC Goa from their second loss of the ongoing ISL.

In an intense first half, Mohammedan showcased their attacking prowess, pressing hard. The Black and White Army dominated FC Goa early on with their attacking force, creating several goal-scoring opportunities, with the midfield controlling the rhythm of the game. However, Goa stayed composed with a strong defense.

Henrique Franca looked very dangerous throughout the first half, creating various goal-bound movements and attempting several shots. In the 28th minute, Franca made a quick run with the ball in a one-on-one situation with Laxmikant Kattimani. He took a strike, but it was deflected by Kattimani, and the rebound was quickly cleared by Nim Dorjee.

FC Goa attempted a few counter-attacks, but in the first half, they seemed off-colored. Padam Chhetri and the debutant defense stayed strong.

Mohammedan SC resumed the second half with the same rhythm. In the 64th minute, Mohammedan launched a brilliant attack, to stopped that move Goa captain Odei made a rough challenge on Franca inside the box, resulting in a penalty. Alexsis took the penalty kick and scored the first goal for the debutant Mohammedan in the Indian Super League.

In the 68th minute, substitute Bikash Singh made a run down the left with the ball and took a shot towards the far post, but the shot went wide. It was a potentially goal-bound movement for the Gaurs at that time. In the 85th minute, Goa created a golden opportunity to open their account. From the edge of the box, Drazic took a shot, but Padam made an incredible save.

But after dominating the entire game with attacking pressure from the start, Mohammedan conceded a goal in additional time. In the 90+4th minute from an attack down the left, unmarked Sadiku, inside the box, received the ball and converted it into a goal with an inch-perfect header. With that goal he scored his second goal of the ongoing ISL 2024. With that last-minute equalizer, FC Goa prevented Mohammedan SC from achieving their first win.
