In their first match of 133rd edition of the Durand Cup 2024, Mohammedan SC started their journey with a draw, against Inter Kashi. Mohammedan SC won their first Durand Cup title in 1940, becoming the first Indian team to win the prestigious tournament under the British ruling, before the independence. With a glorious history, today at Kishore Bharati Krirangan they entered the field to face Inter Kashi, but the match ended up with a 1-1 scoreline.
Today, Both team played their opening match of Durand Cup 2024. Both of the teams started the match with attacking football. In the second half, Mohammedan SC stated the with a high pressing football, and Inter Kashi seemed a bit off coloured. At 57’th minute Tanmoy Ghosh took a long ranger shot but, again direct to the goalkeeper, he punched out the ball but there was still a chance, with that return ball and Sajal bag tried to take a strike but failed. At 65’th minute Tanmoy Ghosh got a rough tackled by one of Inter Kashi’s player, from 23 miter distance between the post and the spot, Ashley Koli took that set piece and scored the direct equaliser goal for Mohammedan SC.

At 73’rd minute Mohammedan SC build up a brilliant attack from the right flank, Adison passed the ball to Israfil, he took a shot and got saved by the goalkeeper, with that return ball substitute player Lalthankima took a strike but failed to scored. At 84’th minute Inter Kashi’s substitute player Dettol committed a foul to Lalthankima in a dangerous spot just 19 meter away from the goalpost, substitute player Mahitosh took that free kick but direct to the human wall, just missed usage of another golden chance to doubled their scoreline.
Not an expected start for both of the team, but both of the teams created various goals scoring chance today, but the match has ended up with a draw. Today’s Man of the Match was Inter Kashi’s defender Anand Usuda, played very responsible game today.
