DURAND CUP 2024: Today at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, Kerala Blasters FC and Punjub FC has played their second match. Both of them started their campaign with a victory in the 133rd edition of the Durand Cup. But today the match settled with a 1-1 draw.
Both teams started today’s match with a attacking force. Punjub FC got an early free kick in the right flank when Muhammed Saheef committed a foul on Nihal Sudesh. At 14’th minute Kerala Blasters FC build up an attack from the left wing, Noah cross the ball but straight to the goalkeeper. At 25’th minute Majcen started run with the ball but, took too much time to unleash a shot, from edge of the box Kerala Blasters FC defender stolen away the ball. Within seven minutes Majcen took a volley inside from the box but, it was too weak to bring a goal.
At 36’th minute Freddy took a long ranger powerful shot from the 40 yards distance and Punjub FC keeper just left watching the ball but, the ball got deflected by the crossbar. Just before the half time whistle Punjub FC open up their scoreboard. Nikhil Prabhu delivered a cross into the box and, Majcen placed the ball into the net. Kerala Blasters FC looked a bit off coloured in the end of the first half.
In the second half, Kerala Blasters FC started high pressing football, at 48’th minute they got a set piece from the left wing, Luna delivered a cross into the box, Peprah headed down the ball and, Pritam Kotal took a strike with that, the ball goes over the post. At 52’nd minute Kerala Blasters FC build up an attack, Noah and Luna played One two one inside the box, from the left Luna took a strike to the near post but, got saved by the Punjab FC keeper.
Within four minutes Substitute player Aimen scored the equaliser goal for Kerala Blasters FC, inside the box Peprah passed the ball to Aimen and he placed the ball into the net. At 62’nd minute Punjab FC created a good chance from the left wing, Majcen chests down the ball into the box, the goalkeeper stopped the ball, Leon Augustine tried to took a rebound shot with that ball but, the lead couldn’t come. Within three minutes from another attack substitute player Ninthoi played one two one with Filip and, took a shot inside from the box but failed to scored.
In the last quarter Punjab FC tried to launched long ball from behind for their forwards, and KBFC seemed attacking to bring up their leading goal. In the additional time 90+3rd minute Substitute player Ivan Novoselec committee a foul to Aimen in the edge of the box, from a scoring distance Kerala Blasters FC got a free kick just before the last whistle, Luna took that free kick but, the ball goes out over the crossbar. Both of the teams created numerous chance today but, the match has ended up with 1-1 scoreline.
