Kerala Blasters Begin ISL 2026-27 Campaign with Convincing 2-0 Win Over Inter Kashi

Vibin Mohanan opened the scoring before Andre Green struck in stoppage time as Kerala Blasters FC defeated Inter Kashi 2-0 to begin their MG ISL 2026-27 campaign with three points.

Kerala Blasters FC kicked off their MG Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27 season on a winning note, defeating Inter Kashi 2-0 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune on Sunday. Vibin Mohanan broke the deadlock in the first half, while Andre Green delivered the decisive blow in stoppage time to ensure the Blasters collected all three points.

Kerala looked to take control early, with Freddy Lallawmawma testing his luck from distance in the fifth minute, although his effort sailed over the crossbar. Inter Kashi responded almost immediately as Rosenberg Gabriel threatened from the left side of the penalty area, only to be denied by Kerala goalkeeper Arsh Shaikh. Manvir Singh also attempted to put the opposition defence under pressure, but his effort failed to find the target.

The opening goal arrived in the 18th minute when Korou Singh created the opportunity for Vibin Mohanan. The midfielder made no mistake with a right-footed finish from the centre of the box, putting Kerala Blasters ahead and giving them an early advantage in their season opener.

Inter Kashi attempted to fight their way back into the contest, with Manvir Singh forcing Shaikh into another save in the 35th minute. Kerala continued to threaten at the other end, as Albino Gomes kept out Freddy Lallawmawma’s attempt before Korou Singh was denied during first-half stoppage time. Despite creating further opportunities, the Blasters went into the break with a one-goal lead.

The contest remained open after the restart, with Kerala searching for the goal that would provide greater security. Substitute Momo Yansane was among the first to threaten, but his attempt went wide. Paul Ramfangzauva and Lallawmawma subsequently tried their luck from distance, while Andre Green came close to doubling the advantage in the 65th minute.

Inter Kashi continued to search for an equaliser and had opportunities to change the course of the match. Manvir Singh’s header in the 61st minute was saved by Shaikh, while Ayush Chhikara narrowly missed the target with an effort in the 72nd minute. However, the visitors were unable to convert their chances into a goal.

Kerala remained dangerous in the closing stages, with Sumit Sharma heading over from a corner in the 80th minute. Inter Kashi pushed forward in an attempt to rescue a point, but the Blasters’ defence remained organised and prevented their opponents from finding a breakthrough.

The result was finally put beyond doubt in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Mohammed Sanan delivered the assist for Andre Green, who finished confidently with his left foot from the centre of the box, directing the ball into the bottom-right corner to make it 2-0.

The late strike completed a positive opening-night performance for Kerala Blasters FC, who secured a clean sheet and all three points. Inter Kashi, meanwhile, were left to rue their missed opportunities as the Blasters began their MG ISL 2026-27 campaign with a valuable victory.
