In the ongoing ISL semi-final, In the dying moments, Jamshedpur FC turned around the momentum of the game to become victorious against Mohun Bagan SG in the first leg of the semi-final, winning 2-1 tonight at the JRD Tata Sports Complex. The momentum of the game shifted several times throughout the match for both semifinalists. However, the Red Miners took advantage in the end.
From the kickoff, the hosts started playing with attacking intensity, with all the red shirts frequently pressing into the Mohun Bagan SG box. In the 24th minute, Jamshedpur took the lead. From a long through ball from Uvais inside the box, Stephen Eze headed the ball down for Siverio, who was close to the goal line. Beating his marker, Siverio sent the ball into the net.
Until then, the Mariners had not attempted a single shot. In the 34th minute, on the right flank, Sanan made a challenge on Asish Rai, awarding Mohun Bagan SG a free kick. Stewart delivered the set piece, and Alberto attempted a header that hit the crossbar. Subhasish almost reached the rebound however, Albino Gomes managed to grab it from close range.
Within four minutes, Cummings earned a free kick when Asutosh Meheta fouled him. From that long range, Cummings sent a stunning left-footed shot into the back of the net to make it 1-1 for the Mariners.
In the second half, Mohun Bagan SG started playing attacking football from the kickoff, launching back-to-back goal bound moves. In the 51st minute, from the right edge of the box, Anirudh Thapa passed the ball inside the left box to Stewart, who received it and moved towards the net. However, before he could shoot, Albino Gomes came off his line and saved the ball.
Jamshedpur FC had to shift into an all-out defense in front of Mohun Bagan SG’s attacks, attempting some counterattacks, but these failed to create threats for the Green And Maroon defense, as they were much more alert. The Red Miners didn’t attempt a single shot in the second half until Havi Hernandez made it 2-1 for them.
In the 90+1st minute, from a counter attack, substitute Ritwik Kumar delivered the ball into the box from the left side for Havi, who sent it into the net. Before the final whistle, the Ritwik-Havi duo offered a glimpse of their previous match, in front of their fans tonight, who filled the stadium in record-breaking numbers. Jamshedpur had not witnessed this much crowd this season at their home.

Mohun Bagan SG maintained ball possession throughout the match, with a maximum of 73% possession as they ended the match. After opening the scoring in the first half, they took control of the tempo of the game. However, former Mariner Havi Hernandez changed the momentum in additional time for Jamshedpur FC, giving them a 2-1 advantage going into the second leg of this semifinal.
Mohun Bagan SG will host the second leg on April 7, in the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan.
