On Tuesday, 25th June at Kishore Bharati Krirangan, Calcutta Football League 2024 inauguration ceremony was started from 5:30 pm, with special performance by playback singer and composer Jeet Ganguly and Beats Breakers Dance Group, later there was laser light show, fire crackers show.
A thrilling opening match between Mohammedan SC and Wari AC, witnessed by the fans today at Kishore Bharati Krirangan on Tuesday. Three consecutive times Calcutta Football League champion started their journey with a huge 6-0 scoreline and big win with a clean sheet.
Mohammedan SC got their first corner at 8’th minute , then Wari AC’s midfielder Swarup Das missed their very first scoring chance from top corner of the eighteen yards box at 10’th minute. At 25’th minutes of the match Mohammedan SC missed their first scoring chance. But at 31’th minute with a grounder shot Sajal Bag place the ball to the second bar and made the scoreline 1-0 for Mohammedan. Wari AC made their first substitutions at 37’th minute, and Ngulgoulal Singsit missed a goal chance from center of the box at 42′ minute .
In the second half of the match, Sajal Bag scored his second goal for Mohammedan SC at 54′ minute with a long ranger shot. Ashley Alban Koli scored the third goal of the match at 65’th minute, later substitute Thokchom Adison Singh, he came to the field at 70’th and within four minutes he took a shot from right corner of the eighteen yards box but failed to convert it in to goal, but at 75’th minute he made the score line 4-0 with his goal. As a substitutes Lalthankima came in to the field at 70’th minute and scored his first goal within eight minutes, with an assist from Thokchom.
Lalthankima scored his brace at 85’th minute from a set piece which was taken by Mohammedan’s captain Tanmoy Ghosh and assured the very first big win with 6-0 scoreline for last seasons champion Mohammedan SC. With so many shots, goal scoring opportunities Wari AC failed to score a single goal for their first match and started their journey with a huge loss in CFL 2024 .
Throughout the match Mohammedan SC‘ s number 19 midfielder Sajal Bag snatched everyone’s attention towards him, with two fantastic goal and a brilliant performance he won the man of the match award.
