Mohun Bagan SG ended their Kalinga Super Cup 2025 campaign with a 3-1 loss in the semi-final against FC Goa, on April 30. With that win, the Gaurs booked their spot in the final.
The match began at a slow pace from both sides. However, with the first corner of the match in the 19th minute, FC Goa broke the deadlock. Borja Herrera took the corner and played a short pass to Boris Singh, who returned the ball to Borja. Borja then took a shot towards the net, which Brison headed in.
The lead didn’t last long, as Mohun Bagan SG quickly equalised. In the 23rd minute, Deepak Tangri sent a diagonal ball to Ashique on the left flank, who made a run and delivered a perfect pass into the box, where Suhail positioned himself well to place the ball into the net. FC Goa started playing attacking football after losing their lead, however, the Mariners were well aware to defend. Goa attempted 11 shots in the first half, but only one was on target.
At the start of the second half, FC Goa resumed with attacking intent. In the 51st minute, Drazic made a goal-bound move, entering the box from the left. This forced Dheeraj to come off his line, and in an attempt to stop him, Dheeraj made rough contact, resulting in a penalty for Goa. Iker Guarrotxena took the penalty and converted it into a goal, helping the Gaurs retake the lead.
Just some moments later, in the 58th minute, Borja Herrera scored an Olympic goal from a corner kick, showcasing pure class and making it 3-1 for the Gaurs. Taking the corner from the right, he curled the ball directly into the net at the far post, where no one was positioned.
In the 63rd minute, following a through ball from Nuno Reis, Salahudeen entered the box from the right, cut past the Gaurs’ keeper, positioned himself, and unleashed a shot which Akash Sangwan blocked. The rebound fell to Sahal, who tried to attempted a half-volley, but it did not yield any result. It was a golden chance for Mohun Bagan SG to reduce the score margin.

As the match approached the final whistle, it became clear that the game was slipping from Mohun Bagan’s grasp. FC Goa continued to play attacking football. The match ended 3-1 in favor of the Gaurs, and with that win, they advanced to the final, now awaiting their opponents.
Despite the loss in the semi-final, the young squad under head coach Bastob Roy showed great spirit in their 2025 Super Cup campaign, playing with determination regardless of the squad, league, or opponent. With that, Mohun Bagan SG wrapped up their 2024–25 season.
