Dominant East Bengal FC Thrash Measurers 7-1 in CFL 2025 Opener | Ruthless Start to CFL Campaign

Kolkata, June 27: East Bengal FC kicked off their Calcutta Football League campaign with a 7-1 dominating football display over Measurers Club on Friday at the Naihati Bankimanjali Stadium.

Early in the 12th minute, Aman CK found the net for East Bengal, but the goal was ruled out for offside. In the 19th minute, Measurers earned a free-kick from a promising position, just edge outside of the box. Surchandra Singh took the kick but hit the crossbar. Within four minutes, East Bengal took the lead. From the left side of the box, Gutei sent a grounded pass to Manotosh Maji, who calmly placed the ball into the net.

In the 34th minute, Naseeb Rahman sent a through pass to Sayan Banerjee. The opposition keeper came off his line, capitalize the moment Sayan chipped the ball over him into the net, to made the score double. In the 37th minute, Gutei scored with a long-range shot to make it 3-0 in favour of East Bengal FC.

With a one-sided attacking display, East Bengal ended the first half and resumed the second half with the same rhythm. Early in the 48th minute, Tanmoy Das scored the fourth goal for the Red and Gold. In the 63rd minute, substitute Ajad Saheem delivered an inch-perfect grounded cross into the box, which substitute Jesin TK calmly slotted into the net, to brings the fifth.

Within three minutes, Jesin scored his brace, making it half a dozen for East Bengal FC. In the 69th minute with a counter-attack, Measurers broke the deadlock as substitute Andy Zakhary edged past the East Bengal keeper, entered the box, and placed the ball into the net. In the following minutes, they created another golden chance, however, Andy Zakhary’s grounded shot went just inches wide.

In additional time, in the 90+4th minute, Tanmoy Das’s corner kick fell outside the box to Suman Roy, who sent a long-range shot on target into the back of the net, sealing a 7-1 win in favour of East Bengal FC.

Building on last season’s unbeaten run, the Red and Gold Brigade have begun this edition with intent, With a commanding 7-1 victory to open their Calcutta Football League 2025 campaign. As the tournament progresses, this is just beginings, with that defeat Measurers will need to address their shortcomings, and approach the upcoming fixtures with renewed focus and determination to bounce back.
