Today at East Bengal/Aryan Ground, East Bengal FC beat ASOS Rainbow AC and secured their another win in CFL 2024, with 2-0 score.
ASOS Rainbow AC showcased their defensive mettle in the opening half, leaving the scoreline untouched as they headed into the break. After the kickoff, Ajad Saheem missed a golden opportunity to open up East Bengal FC’s scoreline early on. East Bengal FC seemed very attacking and tested the ASOS Rainbow defense multiple times, But their backlines stood firm, absorbing pressure and cutting out any attacking threats.
In the 31st minute, from the right corner of the box, Tanmay Das took a strike at the near post from a running ball, but Rainbow’s experienced keeper, Shilton Paul, saved the shot. East Bengal FC launched various attack in the first half they tested Rainbow’s defense but they failed to taste the Keeper.
The second half resumed with the same scenario, East Bengal FC looked attacking, while the ASOS Rainbow AC defense appeared well-organized, ensuring that headers and shots were either blocked or cleared to safety.
But East Bengal FC broke the deadlock with two late goals from their two substitute players. In the 74th minute, Sanjib Ghosh scored the crucial opening goal for East Bengal and made a commendable statement. He held up a shirt with his teammates, displaying a demanding message ‘We want justice for R.G. Kar’. In the additional time at 90+4th minute Muhammed Ashique doubled the score for East Bengal and sealed their sixth consecutive victory.
After the match, ASOS Rainbow AC’s players together raised their jersey, displaying the message ‘Justice for R.G. Kar’, addressing the current situation in Kolkata.
