Kolkata, August 29: East Bengal continued their dominant run in the Calcutta Football League 2025, Group B with a commanding 3-1 victory over Kalighat MS at Naihati Bankimanjali Stadium. David, Guite, and Shyamal Besra found the net for East Bengal, while Devadath’s penalty offered a brief moment of hope for Kalighat MS.
East Bengal looked the brighter of the two sides from the very first whistle, took early control of the game with continuous pressure on the Kalighat MS defense. In the 6th minute, Sayon delivered a cross from the right, which found Vishnu, but his attempt was well blocked by the Kalighat MS keeper.
The breakthrough came in the 25th minute when David latched on to a brilliant through ball, made his way into the box, and cleverly chipped the ball over the Kalighat MS keeper to put East Bengal ahead 1-0.

Kalighat MS, on the other hand, created a few half-chances but lacked the sharpness to truly test Debjit in the East Bengal goal. Most of their attacking moves fizzled out before becoming a real threat.
East Bengal began the second half with intent and quickly doubled their lead. In the 52nd minute, David delivered a cross that found substitute Guite Peka, who made no mistake in finishing, extending the scoreline to 2-0.

The Red and Gold brigade continued to push forward, and in the 61st minute Vishnu squared the ball from the left inside of the box to Sayan, his first attempt was blocked by the Kalighat MS keeper, but again he attempt on the rebound, only to be denied again in what was a golden chance to extend the lead.
Kalighat MS found a way back into the contest in the 69th minute. Rajen Oraon broke forward on the counter and was brought down by Debjit left edge corner inside the box, earning a penalty. Devadath stepped up and converted, reducing the score gap to 2-1.

The game grew tense, with Kalighat MS looking for an equalizer. In the 80th minute, Samaresh Das delivered a cross from the left that hitted the crossbar before his teammate could connect, narrowly missing out on leveling the score.
But East Bengal had the final say. In the 87th minute, after Kalighat MS clearance, Vishnu played the ball to Shyamal Besra, he skipped past two players and unleashed a thunderous long-range strike that rocketed into the back of the net, sealing the score 3-1. It was a stunning goal, a poetic strike that perfectly capped East Bengal’s dominant evening.

With this result, East Bengal wrapped up their group stage campaign on a high. The Red and Gold brigade stayed on top of Group B with 23 points from 11 matches, securing their place in the top three and confirming progression to the next stage.
On the other hand, Kalighat MS still have one match left to play, but their chances of finishing in the top three are over. With just 9 points so far, they remain 9th in the table and will now look to end their campaign with pride.
