Today at Naihati Bankimanjali Stadium, on a Sunday afternoon, Diamond Harbour FC secured another win. In the ongoing Calcutta Football League, Kibu Vicuna’s DHFC played their 9th match today and achieved a 3-0 victory against Kalighat Milan Sangha.
From the starting of the first half, Diamond Harbour FC came out strong, dominating possession and pressing high up the pitch, while Kalighat MS held their shape, looking for opportunities to counter. Within a few minutes of the game, Joby Justin’s shot hit the post. At 17th minute from an counter attack, Kalighat MS got a easy chance to opened up their scoreboard, from a one on situation Manosh Sarkar missed the chance.
In the 33th minute, Diamond Harbour FC almost took the lead when Rahul Paswan found space in the box, but his shot got saved by the keeper. Kalighat MS’s defense seemed very strong. DHFC created eight chances for scoring but could not find the back of the net. The first half ended in a goalless draw, but DHFC edging the contest in terms of dominating possession and chances created.
In the second half, at 49th minute Girik Khosla found the lead for DHFC, from the right flank Joby Justin delivered a center into the box and Girik’s header send the ball into the net. In the 60th minute, Girik Khosla’s cross from a corner kick found Joby Justin, who struck it and scored the second goal for DHFC.
At 85th minute substitute player Shaibor Kharpan took a header from a corner kick, it was a good scoring chance, but Kalighat MS keeper saved it. In the additional time at 90+2nd minute Substitute player Supriyo Pandit launched a quick attack from the left flank and crossed the ball into the box near the far post. Shaibor attempted a strike but slipped. However, on his second attempt, he placed the ball into the net, changing the scoreline to 3-0.
Diamond Harbour FC earned 23 points with 16 goals from 9 matches and holds the first position in Group A. Today Joby Justin got the Man Of The Match award.
