On January 15, at the East Bengal Club Ground, East Bengal FC secured their second victory in the ongoing Indian Women’s League with a 1-0 win against Sribhumi FC.
The first half remained goalless as both teams failed to find the net. In the second half, East Bengal increased their attacking pressure, and a late strike by Soumya Guguloth sealed the deal for the Moshal Girls. In the 65th minute, East Bengal created a golden goal-bound move from the left. Resty Nanziri passed the ball from the right to Soumya, who entered the box and took a shot from the far post, but it went wide.
However, in the 76th minute, East Bengal launched another attack. After a series of back-to-back attempts inside the box, Soumya found the ball and precisely placed it into the net. In the 84th minute, Bala Devi replaced Rimpa Haldar but failed to leave her mark on the pitch for her team today.

In the dying moments of the 90th minute, East Bengal earned a corner from the right. Anju Tamang delivered an inch-perfect ball into the box, which Soumya attempted to head, but goalkeeper Monalisha Devi made a goal-line save. With this win, East Bengal FC remained at the top of the group table with 6 points from 2 matches. Meanwhile, after two defeats, Sribhumi FC sits in 7th place with no points.
Both of them have their next IWL fixtures on 20 January. From 9:00 AM East Bengal FC will play against Nita. From 3:00 PM Sribhumi FC will host Gokulam.
