Mohammedan SC Breaks Losing Streak with Gritty 0-0 Draw Against Odisha FC Amid Growing Injury Crisis

Mohammedan SC earned one point after five consecutive losses, playing a determined game against Odisha FC at their home ground, Kishore Bharati Krirangan. The match ended in a goalless draw. With that result, Kalinga Warriors moved up to 4th place in the group table with 20 points from 13 matches.

The game began at a paced play, with both teams struggling to find their rhythm. Despite some promising build-up play by Mohammedan SC, the lack of urgency led to minimal goal-scoring opportunities from both sides in the first half. Mohammedan SC attempted only five shots, while Odisha failed to attempt even a single one.

In the 14th minute, Alexis Gomez unleashed a long-range grounder from the left towards the near post, but it went wide. A few minutes later, Franca was fouled by Delgado in what appeared to be a serious incident. However, after receiving initial treatment, he resumed playing. Unfortunately, in the 40th minute, Franca was forced to leave the game as he couldn’t continue, and Manzoki came on as his replacement.

Odisha’s defense remained strong throughout the first half. They did not showcase an attacking display of football but ended the half with a dominant 61% ball possession.

In the second half, Mohammedan SC showcased strong attacking football. In the 67th minute, they had a golden scoring opportunity when Alexsis unleashed a defense-splitting long shot, but it hit the crossbar. In the 73rd minute, Zuidika sent an aerial cross from the right towards the near post for Remsanga, but he couldn’t make good contact with the ball, which was eventually cleared by the Odisha defense.

With that initial clearance, Mohammedan earned a corner kick, from which Manzoki attempted a header that again hit the crossbar. In the 80th minute, Mourada Fall attempted a rough challenge on Manzoki, forcing another substitution for Mohammedan. As Manzoki was unable to continue, Adison Singh came on in his place.

Odisha FC launched several attacks and attempted multiple shots in this half, but they were easy for the Mohammedan SC defense to handle. In the 90th minute, Makan Chote came onto the pitch as Bikash Singh was unable to continue for the remainder of the match.

In the final moments of additional time, Kasimov took a long-range shot on target from the right, which the goalkeeper, Amrinder Singh, saved by a narrow margin. In the dying moments, Mohammedan earned back-to-back corner kicks, but the match ended in a goalless draw.

After a long streak, Mohammedan SC managed to secure one point from tonight’s fixture, but their injury concerns have increased. Manzoki, who recently returned from an injury in the previous match, was forced off again after sustaining a serious injury following a foul. Franca also had to be substituted in the first half and was taken to the hospital during halftime. Bikash Singh also appeared to be injured, adding to Mohammedan SC’s growing list of injury concerns. Additionally, Chernyshov is already dealing with the absence of Gourav Bora, who is sidelined for two to three weeks.

Player Of The Match: with an exceptional performance, creating three promising goal-scoring chances and delivering nine crosses, Alexis Gomez was named Man of the Match in this fixture. He also played a key role in defense.
