In the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur FC hosted their match tonight against Mohammedan SC and won 3-1. Alexis and Kasimov were not in the Mohammedan Sporting’s match squad due to their suspension after conceding their fourth yellow card in the previous match.
In the tightly contested first half, neither side managed to find the back of the net, though both teams displayed some goal-bound moves. In the 19th minute, Siverio had a one-on-one opportunity to score. He attempted a chip, but the ball went off target.
In the 35th minute, Gaurav Bora suffered a severe injury while attempting to defend against a Red Miners attack. He was accidentally knee-butted on the forehead by his teammate Zuidika. Mohammedan SC coach Chernyshov was forced to make a substitution. Bora, bleeding heavily despite a bandage on his forehead, had to leave the field. Joseph Adajei, returning after recovering from an earlier injury, came on as his replacement.
In the 45th minute, after receiving the ball from Franca, Makan Chothe attempted a shot from the center of the box, but it was an easy save for the Jamshedpur FC keeper. It could have been better from that position. With a maximum of 61% ball possession, Mohammedan ended the first half with several possible goal-scoring chances.
In the second half, at the 50th minute, Remsanga created a great scoring opportunity. He made a run down the left flank and from the back line, cut the ball back to Irshad near the goal line. However, Irshad’s attempt was intercepted by a Jamshedpur FC defender.
However, the hosts scored goal and took the lead, in the 54th minute, the young lad Mohammed Sanan shone brightly for the Red Miners. From the left corner of the box, he struck the ball, which went into the net through the top corner of the far post.
In the 61st minute, due to a defensive lapse, Jamshedpur FC scored their second goal. From a corner kick, one of the Red Miners took a header, which keeper Bhaskar Roy saved, but the ball slipped from his hands, allowing Siverio to put it into the net.
Mohammedan SC repeated their mistakes in the 79th minute. From another corner, one of the Red Miners headed the ball down to an unmarked Subham Sarangi, who took a shot towards the net, Eze attempted it sent it into the net.
However, in the 88th minute, Mohammedan SC got a free kick on the right. Captain Zuidika delivered the ball perfectly into the box, where Irshad headed it into the net to score Mohammedan SC’s first goal.
In the last minute of additional time, Pratick Chowdhury committed a foul on Manzoki inside the box, giving Mohammedan SC another opportunity to add more goals to the score sheet and reduce the margin. However, Franka couldn’t convert it into a goal.
Six losses from nine matches and standing 12th in the group table, for Mohammedan SC it’s not a favorable starting of their maiden Indian Super League season, but there’s still a long season ahead. Meanwhile, the hosts are now standing 7th with 15 points from 9 matches.
