Blue Colts target third consecutive win against Grenada after back-to-back victories over Laos and Cameroon in the FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival Azerbaijan 2026.
Kolkata, October 25: India U-15 boy’s team will look to continue their winning run at the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival Azerbaijan 2026 after two consecutive wins, as they won 2–1 against Cameroon today. Now they will face Grenada in their third Group K fixture at the Hovsan Competition Complex in Baku on Sunday.
The Blue Colts, coached by Bibiano Fernandes, head into the contest on the back of a 2–1 victory over Cameroon earlier in the day. An own goal by Fareil Ngobo in the opening minute gave India an early advantage, before R Lalremruatfela scored the decisive goal in the 27th minute. Goalkeeper Jenit Ningthoujam also played a crucial role, saving a penalty to help India secure their second consecutive win.
Blue Colts had opened their campaign with a 4–2 victory over Laos on October 24, with Macdonnish Ngairangbam, R Lalremruatfela and Soumojit Sarkar among the goalscorers. The successive victories have given the young Indian side a strong start to the qualification stage.
Grenada Next for the Blue Colts:
India’s encounter against Grenada is scheduled for 07:15 IST on tonight at Pitch 1B of the Hovsan Competition Complex. With the qualification stage featuring five matches across three days, the quick turnaround will test the squad’s recovery, concentration and ability to maintain its intensity.
Grenada, meanwhile, will be looking to respond after suffering a 7–1 defeat against Senegal earlier on Sunday. Senegal’s emphatic result highlights the attacking threat India could face later in the qualification stage, making every match important as teams compete for their positions in the tournament’s second phase.
Elsewhere in Group K, Laos drew 1–1 with Bahrain. India entered the Grenada fixture as the only team in the group to have won both of its opening matches.
A Place in the Next Phase at Stake:
Matches are played in an eight-a-side format. After the group matches, teams will be placed into six tiers based on their results, and all teams will continue competing until the final day. The winner of Tier A will be crowned the tournament champion.
Following the Grenada encounter, India will complete the qualification stage with two matches on October 26, against Bahrain at 02:15 IST and Senegal at 09:00 IST.
Captain R Lalremruatfela has made a strong impact in front of goal, finding the net three times across India’s first two matches. His brace against Laos was followed by a decisive finish against Cameroon, underlining his importance to Bibiano Fernandes’ side as the Blue Colts prepare for their remaining Group K fixtures.
With two wins already secured, the Blue Colts will aim to build on their momentum, collect another positive result and strengthen their position before facing Bahrain and Senegal on the final day of the qualification stage.
