Dominant Derby Demolition: Mohun Bagan SG Crush Mohammedan Sporting Club 5–1 in Stunning ISL 2025–26 Clash

Kolkata, February 28: In the ongoing ISL, Mohun Bagan SG won the Kolkata derby with a dominating 5-1 score at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan on Saturday evening. Mohammedan SC broke the deadlock first, but the Mariners picked up the pace quickly. Three goals in the first half and two in the second saw Mohun Bagan seal all three points.

Both teams changed their starting line-ups and kicked off the first derby of the Indian Super League 2025–26 season with intensity, as Mohammedan SC finished early to take the breakthrough. From a goal-bound move, the Black and White Army earned a corner. Lalngaisaka delivered the ball into the box from the set piece, and Lalthankima headed it into the net to give Mohammedan the derby lead.

Winning the ball from his marker, Amarjit Kiyam, Cummings back-heeled it inside the box, where Robson Robinho calmly placed the ball into the net. Within five minutes, the Mariners took the lead. Manvir’s shot was intercepted by Gourav Bora but not properly cleared, and the rebound fell to Robson Robinho, who unleashed a powerful shot into the net to make it 2–1.

Maclaren added the third before the end of the first half. In the 35th minute Amay Ranawade sent in a cross from the right, which Cummings attempted, but keeper Subhajit Bhattacharya made the save. However, it was not effective, as Maclaren was there to place the loose ball into the net. But before the half-time whistle, Lobera was forced into a change as brace scorer Robson Robinho was unable to continue and was stretchered off the pitch. Dimitrios Petratos replaced him in the 39th minute.

However, the fifth goal came when Petratos finished a picturesque long-range shot. From almost 25 yards out, Petratos attempted the on target shot to change the score 5-1.
